Disposable email providers, and what they cost you

We track 190 throwaway providers. Below is the live mail routing status for the ones we publish a page for - checked against DNS when this page was built, not copied from a list.

Why a throwaway signup is expensive

• Trial abuse. One person opens unlimited free accounts, and your unit economics are computed on users who were never one user.
• Deliverability. Mail to an abandoned inbox bounces or is marked spam. Bounce rate is what actually gets a sending domain blocklisted, and it is shared across everything you send.
• Analytics. Throwaway signups poison activation and retention for every cohort they land in, so you optimise against noise.

What the routing status means

• Accepts mail today - working MX. Mail is delivered, then abandoned. The ordinary case, and why a regex says the address is fine.
• Implicit MX - no MX record but the domain resolves, so RFC 5321 sends mail to the A record. It accepts without advertising.
• Null MX - RFC 7505. The domain declares it accepts no mail at all. A guaranteed hard bounce, and a confident verdict.
